Welcome back! We’re happy to have our returning skaters join us again for another fun-filled skating year and a special welcome to the new skaters and parents joining our club!
PRE-SCHOOL Designed for skaters 3-5 years of age by October 1st, 2010. They require little or no previous skating experience. Instruction will be given for 30 minutes. Each session will include a warm up and group instruction. Incentives are handed out at the end of each class. Report Cards will be handed out at the end of each season. Skaters are assessed daily and may be moved up to Canskate when ready. All coaches are certified with Skate Canada.
CANSKATE Canskate is designed for skaters 5 and up by October 1st, 2010. They are not required to have previous experience. Skaters will develop the basic fundamentals of skating, forwards, backwards, stopping, turning, and jumping. Canskate is the official learn to skate program in Canada. It is only offered by sanctioned Skate Canada Clubs. Skaters will be grouped according to skill level and age. Skaters are assessed daily and may advance to the next level when all skills on a particular badge are accomplished. The Canskate program is 50 minutes in length. There are six stages that the skaters will work to complete. Each skater will progress at their own rate.
Name Tags will be given to skaters on their first day of skating. All coaches are certified with Skate Canada. Private lessons are available at this level and are offered during the first 15-minutes of the session. Refer to Professional Coaching Staff List.
ADULT/TEEN This session is for Adults that want to learn how to skate through group instruction. It is also for Adults who already know how to skate and would like to improve their skating skills. Private lessons available.
STARskate
Junior, Intermediate, Senior & Advanced
Minimum Freeskate Requirements – Junior and Intermediate skaters must skate 2 sessions per week. Senior & Advanced Skaters must skate 3 sessions per week. OPEN ice sessions count towards club minimum.
Junior
Must have passed Stage 6. Private lessons or semiprivate lessons are recommended at this level. Refer to Professional Coaching Staff List.
Intermediate
Must have passed one part of the Preliminary Freeskate test OR Must have passed Preliminary Skills AND all Preliminary dances
Senior
Must have the full Preliminary Freeskate test AND one part of the Junior Bronze Freeskate test OR Must have passed Junior Bronze Skills AND all Preliminary and Junior Bronze Dances
Advanced
Must have passed the full Preliminary AND Junior Bronze Freeskate AND one part of the Senior Bronze Freeskate OR Must have passed Senior Bronze Skills AND all Preliminary, Junior Bronze and Senior Bronze dances
